Role Title: Service Engineer
Duration: 9 months contract
Work Location: Remote Role
Pay Rate: $80/hr to $90/hr W2
Purpose of the Team: The Building Automation Engineering team supports global data center infrastructure by designing, reviewing, and maintaining building automation and control systems that manage cooling, airflow, humidity, and other critical environmental functions. The team partners with vendors and engineering stakeholders to ensure consistent controls standards are implemented across data center projects worldwide, supports construction and commissioning activities, reviews technical deliverables, and resolves issues in mission-critical environments to maintain reliable Azure data center operations.
Explain a typical day in the role.:
The engineer's initial focus is reviewing BAS submittals, engineering deliverables, checking sequences of operations, points lists, controls schematics, riser and network architecture diagrams, panel and device schedules, then issuing comments and tracking them to closure through package revisions.
Prioritizing quality and specification compliance oversight will be required.
Daily coordination with mechanical, electrical, and facility engineering counterparts covers design reviews, RFIs, and field issues.
What is the ideal background of a candidate for this role?:
Strong working knowledge of building automation protocols such as BACnet and Modbus, and of DDC and PLC controls platforms.
Working knowledge of HVAC and mechanical and electrical systems as they relate to controls integration.
Proficiency with design and documentation tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Visio.
Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to represent design intent to integrators, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
Preferred background:
Controls design experience in mission critical, data center, or critical facility environments.
Experience authoring or maintaining controls design standards across a portfolio of projects.
Familiarity with major DDC vendors. Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell or Automated Logic
Prior experience delivering in a vendor or consulting model.

Escaped issues that surface later in construction or commissioning serve as a leading indicator of review quality, and feedback from mechanical, electrical, and facility engineering counterparts covers responsiveness and technical judgment.
